There are many ways you can help the sanctuary.

Adopting from the Sanctuary

Adopting a ‘Sanctuary animal’ is a wonderful thing to do, and gives hope to many of the unwanted animals that we see so frequently. However always remember that taking on a new member of the family is a big commitment, and not something to be taken lightly. Find out more about the adoption process. Click here.

Sponsoring

Whilst we have many animals that come and go relatively quickly, we have some animals that will stay with us forever.

This could be for many reasons, they are too old to find a new home, they may be poorly or past experiences may mean they simply aren’t suited to a new environment.

The cost of care for each of these animals can be great, so by sponsoring them from only £25 per year (or £2 per month by direct debit) you can help us enormously in making sure the rest of their days are happy ones.

In return for your donation, you will receive a sponsorship certificate with the details of your new pets news, as well as regular updates about him or her.

If you feel you would like to sponsor an animal simply choose who you would like to help, then fill out our form Animals to sponsor.

Donating

The Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary is a small charity that is entirely dependent on outside donations. Money is needed to feed and care for each of our animals, as well as pay for vets bills and maintenance to the Sanctuary itself.

Any donations, however small are gratefully received and help enormously; THANK YOU. If you are a taxpayer pleae fill out and include a Gift Aid form, which you can download here, and we can reclaim the tax making your donation even more valuable to us.

Volunteering

You don’t need to donate money to help us - could you donate your time or knowledge?

Volunteering is an excellent way to help the Sanctuary, and we need volunteers for lots of jobs.

Dog Walking / Socialisation
Could you spare an hour a week to take our dogs for a walk or even spend some time with the animals?

Lots of our dogs would love to be taken out on a walk, and relieve some of the stress from living in the kennels. For a few, leaving the Sanctuary might be too much excitement for now, but time spent with the animal giving it vital socialisation could help a lot in finding him or her a new home.

Dog walkers and socialisers need to be calm and often
patient. They need to be competent at handling the
animals and always act responsibly when in the animals
company.

Home Visits
Home visits are a very important job within the Sanctuary, and we are very grateful for any help we can get in this area.

When one of our animals finds a potential new family, we must conduct a home visit to check that the new living arrangements are suitable and that there will be no potential problems for either party. Home visits can be conducted at a time suitable to you and the new owner, and can be done as often as you can manage. Potential candidates for home visits will need to have their own transport and be willing to travel to the potential new owners home.

Once the visit is carried out, you simply need to report back to the Sanctuary and let us know whether or not the home is suitable and that it meets all the criteria needed for that particular animal.

Animal Sanctuary Collecting Boxes.
Some of our supporters help by holding one of our Collection Boxes in their home and they and their family put in loose change. The great advantage is that they are not committed to contributing any specific amount and can put in whatever money they like, whenever they can. You will also see these Collection Boxes in shops and businesses around Oxfordshire and we are most grateful to those proprietors who help us in this way.

Even the smallest donations add up and cumulatively they raise a significant sum for the Sanctuary each year. But we could do so much better if we had more Boxes out there !
If you would be willing to hold a box in your home or if you know of shops, pubs or other businesses who might be willing to have one, please ring the Sanctuary for further details.

Recycling Mobile Phones.
As another fundraising measure, we are taking part in the FoneAid mobile phone recycling campaign. If we collect mobile phones which are no longer required and send them to Phoneaid we can raise £3 per phone plus £100 vouchers for every 100 phones collected. It is said that there are countless mobile phones languishing in people's homes and businesses ! Can you help us to locate some of these for the benefit of the Sanctuary ? Could=2 0you put up a poster in your office or business ?

Donated phones can be delivered to The Animal Sanctuary, Stadhampton, or OAS Shops in Summertown, Witney and Didcot, or Pads 'n Paws Pet Shop, 16, Cherwell Drive, Marston, Oxford.  If you are unable to get to any of these Collection Centres, please ring the number given below and it may well be possible for us to arrange to collect.

For further information please ring The Sanctuary for further details.
