We Have Moved
...
On Tuesday 11th October we are re-opening a charity shop in Didcot, in a new temporary premises, in Hagbourne Road (behind Millhill Tools).

Please come and support us from that date, we will gratefully accept donations (unfortunately we are too small to take larger furniture items) and we would love to see our customers again. See you soon!

We are always looking for volunteers to help us shake a tin
If you feel you can help us on the day please call the Sanctuary.

The Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary was set up in 1967 by Margaret Gray. Along with seven other women she decided to set up a charity to take care of stray dogs. Since then, the charity has re-homed literally hundreds of animals, and last year, of the 192 dogs that arrived at the Sanctuary, 178 found new homes.

Now, the Sanctuary employs a team of 18 staff, has many volunteers within our shops, and is managed by a committee of 14.

Margaret Gray still remains our chairman, and our president is the much acclaimed writer Dr. Desmond Morris.

The Sanctuary does not just take in Cats and Dogs, we take in lots of other animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, horses and sheep, and work closely with our Veterinary Surgeons to provide the best care for all our charges, whatever the state they come to us in.

Ultimately we hope to re-home the animals we take in. Through the sanctuary we hope to find suitable homes for all our animals, and any animal which has suffered trauma of any kind we would hope to rehabilitate them so that they may find a new family.

Every day the sanctuary takes in animals of every kind. Some animals stay a few days, and some for much longer and rely on our sponsorship programme.

All our animals have different personalities, and have had many different experiences. It is therefore vital that before someone takes an animal home we are able to discuss living arrangements with them to make sure if they decide to adopt, there is a happy outcome for all.
